The African Mining Network has been established to develop and build relationships across Africa’s mining community and give the world a preview of what is happening in mining in Africa. The African Mining Network dinner will be held bi-monthly. The aim of these bi-monthly events is to provide a platform for people to network and listen to an informative and engaging speaker who will discuss the topics and issues of the day. This networking event will also open new business opportunities across all sectors of the mining industry. Network events are held every second month starting at 6pm sharp. The next event is on Tuesday, 5 August, 2014, at The Wanderers Club, 21 North Street, Illovo, Johannesburg, South Africa. The cost to attend the event is ZAR525.

Selected as guest of AMN which helps promote career prospects among final year mining, metallurgy and geology students to network with the mining industry attendees at the bimonthly events: It was an honour to rub shoulders with great and successful people at the AMN event last night (13 February 2014). I met so many people who are willing to help me with employment leads and I would like to humbly extend my gratitude to you and the AMN team. No words can express my gratitude. I will also like to say many thanks to Yolanda Torrisi for allowing me such a great opportunity. The fact that she even put me in her welcoming speech meant alot to me. I really appreciate it. She has a beautiful heart. May AMN grow to be a massive networking event on other continents as well. I can humbly say that this opportunity will not be forgotten.

Bonita Read, RedDot: Thank you (again) for a well put together event and the opportunity that AMN creates for us to network and meet new people in the industry. I have to say that your speaker at this event (November 2013) was the best yet! Smart, intelligent, engaging, friendly and knowledgeable… sometimes it is hard to for an audience to stay focussed every minute of the time that a speaker talks but I can tell you that Mr Norman Mbazima held everybody’s attention every second of the time… and what a beautiful smile he has too. The girls at your reception desk and the waitrons that served us were awesome – friendly and polite and I hope you can pass this message on to them in some way. AMN is an event worth attending for anybody who wants to learn, share and engage with like-minded people in the industry. Hopefully I can engage more guests at the next event. My guest, Martin Rix from BCX, thoroughly appreciated it and his sentiments equal mine in terms of the speaker and the overall hospitality.

Joseph Moji, Immigration Attache, Botswana High Commission: AMN is very resourceful. I have identified a lot of companies which can do some work in Botswana. Paul Lubbinge, Ngena DesignSpace: These functions are a wonderful way for ‘out of towners’ to meet new people and make friends in the industry. We will definitely be at the next event. It was the first time that Ngena DesignSpace attended one of your functions. I met a few people who could make use of NDS’s services and vice-versa. It was really worthwhile attending the function. I learned a lot from Mike Rossouw’s presentation and the food was good as well.
Jerry Mtekwe, Remco Industries: It was really worth it to attend the event. Mr Briggs was outstanding. The environment was so very accepting and what a dinner.

As first time visitors we were keen to circulate, talk shop and hand over business cards. This was achieved in the bar with great value. We could see many people were keen to meet new people but time was limited. Looking forward to the one next month. Well done and keep it going.
