AMN - MALI: Auger drilling underway at Kouroufing

Oklo Resources has started auger geochemical drilling has commenced at the Kouroufing project in western Mali. The project is 20 kilometres southeast of the flagship Dandoko Gold Project.

The drilling program will comprise about 15,000 metres with auger holes drilled on 400 metre spaced lines at a hole spacing of 100 metres along each line.

Auger holes will sample the top 2-3 metres of bedrock material below areas of extensive lateritic profile, soils and cover material.

The program will take about 50 days to complete and Oklo hopes it will be completed before the start of the wet season in July.

Similar reconnaissance auger bedrock geochemical drilling has been instrumental in Oklo identifying recent gold discoveries at the Dandoko project.

Collected samples will initially be stored and then analysed during the upcoming wet season so as not to delay analysis of samples from Dandoko.

The Kouroufing project covers an area of 90sqkm within the Kenieba Inlier to the east of the regionally significant Senegal Mali Shear Zone (SMSZ).

The SMSZ and associated northeast-trending splay structures are spatially related to several major gold projects including Fekola (5.2 million ounces), Loulo (12.5 million ounces), Gounkoto (5.4 million ounces), Yatela (3 million ounces), Sadiola (15 million ounces) and Sabodala (10 million ounces).

The project covers a largely unexplored tract of highly prospective Proterozoic Birimian greenstones in a comparable geological setting to the nearby, multi-million-ounce gold mining operations and recent discoveries.

Oklo has identified northeast-trending structures within the project area, which are considered similar to those within nearby Dandoko project associated with the 12km-long, northeast-trending gold corridor recently outlined by a similar auger geochemistry program.

The company recently entered into an agreement to acquire 100% ownership of the Kandiole Sud project, 5km southwest of Dandoko. The Kandiole project is a single granted permit of 116sqkm in area within the Kenieba Inlier to the immediate east of the SMSZ.

The project covers a largely unexplored tract of highly prospective Proterozoic Birimian greenstones in a comparable geological setting to the nearby, multi-million-ounce gold mining operations and recent discoveries.
